Washington DC

So we took a trip last week to Washington DC. Normally it’s a 7.5 hour trip, but when you travel with 4 kids including a newborn, it takes a bit longer (like 10.5 hours) and it gets pretty stressful! Anyways, it rained the whole time we were there, so we weren’t able to see/visit everything we wanted to. But we did make it to the White house, but when we knocked on the door, no one answered :( You can just tell by the first picture how incredibly excited the kids were (not) The best part of the trip though was the hotel. We stayed at the Embassy Suites Hotel on 22nd and M st. It was awesome! Totally recommended especially if you have children.

But I think that my beautiful Malika has found her true calling…. So you better vote for her!

This is our second day, and it’s the closest we actually got to the Washington Monument. You can’t tell by this photo, but it was raining and they were not as happy as they seem. Other photos show the puddle they are standing in, yeah I told them it was alright…

It was the weekend before Earth Day and there was a concert on the Mall in front of Congress. We walked through quickly since it started pouring rain and it’s no fun when you and your family are on vacation and your soaking wet! We went to the Natural History Museum before walking around outside and it was PACKED because of the rain.

OK, so you might not have known this, but I moonlight as an airline stewardess. That’s me. My smile is good, but maybe I need to work on my nails and a new purse might be good. This is at the Air and Space Museum. We only stayed for about 20 minutes because everyone was getting cranky.

The National Aquarium was totally lame. Do not waste the $5.00 Just come to my house if you want to see a pathetic fish tank!

After leaving DC, we drove up to Baltimore and had lunch on the Pier. The weather reached a high level of badness and it was cold and super windy. This is Zenith - watch out cause he’s a pirate and he’ll get you! (notice the pissed of look? He found out that we couldn’t actually board the ship and he was super bummed)

Our last day was spent with friends in Philadelphia at the Zoo. The weather was perfect and the zoo was nice. The spaces for the animals were well maintained and we had a really good time!

Do yourself a favor…. rent the strollers, even if you don’t have kids.

Gedney Farm

Here are a few shots of Gedney Farm and Mepal Manor. These two wedding venues usually go together and they are both located in the beautiful Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. The following photos are from a wedding I shot there last year. It ended up being a very dark and stormy night, and the entire wedding was moved inside. The first image is of Mepal Manor, the others are of Gedney Farm. The people who run Gedney Farm are really cool and super easy to work with. If your considering a wedding at Gedney Farm I totally recommend also renting Mepal Manor because you and a few of your closest friends/family can stay together, AND there is a great spa!!! Plus they are only about a mile and a half away from each other, so travel between the two is quick!

How to choose a wedding photographer

OK, so I’ve been asked to write an article for a certain wedding website, and it’s going to be titled:

“How to choose a wedding photographer” or something along those lines.

And I’m NOT a writer!

Anyways, I obviously have some opinions about this topic, but I’m posting this so I can get YOUR opinions.

Currently, my blog is getting about 30-40 unique visitors per day. It’s not much, but but I know that it is mostly couples looking for a wedding photographer who are visiting.

SO - If your reading this right now, please leave a comment about how YOU are choosing a wedding photographer. What you look for, what is most important to you, how important is cost, how important is experience, how important is personality. Etc…. Any and all comments are welcome, and I’ll also be sending an email to the over 120 couples who I have worked with on their wedding day.
